Installation Response to Hazardous Materials Incidents (80-hours)

Program Description

Based specifically on the client installation’s emergency response planning (i.e., SPCC, ERP, etc.), this multi-tiered series of training is intended for all personnel with a role in hazardous materials incident response. The program is designed to provide each category of responder (plant security, public works, environmental, fire dept, etc.) with focused instruction relevant to their designated roles (per plan). Fundamental to the curriculum is the NFPA and OSHA’s tiered scheme of “First Responder Awareness (Level One)” to “On-Scene Incident Commander (Level Five)”.

While the entire program takes place over a two week period, each level of personnel need only attend according to their roles and only the more advanced positions must attend the full duration. Because the instruction and training scenarios are based on the installation’s planning, this program will satisfy many additional requirements set forth by EPA’s Environmental Risk Management and OSHA’s Process Safety Management Plan.

Program Objectives

  1. Comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(q);

  2. Conform to NFPA’s Recommended Practices 471 & 472;
